  • Bexley Rugby Blue & White Day – Whole Club Celebration – 15th October 22

On Saturday 15th October, Bexley Rugby Club celebrated our annual Blue & White Day with winning matches for both our men’s and women’s team. They were also joined by the junior section who had moved their training a day forward to join in with the celebrations. The day started with a World Cup match between England and France, with England coming out on top. After that, the junior section had an hour of fun, games and training, including having the use of a bouncy castle. Prior to the women’s match against Rochford, the children gave a tunnel of honour to both teams and wished them luck for the game (see video). The games itself was watch by a good crowd and the Bexley ladies were victorious, winning 38-7, their first win of the season. Afterwards, the use of the BBQ, cake stall and drinks area was busy as the crowd watched the men starting their warm-up for the match against Dartford Valley 2’s. This was another good match with Bexley coming out as victors, 29-7. Finally, it was really great to hear that from donations and results of the cake stall sales, we made £100 for our club charity, Balls For Brains. It was a great day, and it was wonderful to see so many club members, families and loved ones supporting our teams and joining in with the celebrations. Even the rain did not dampen enthusiasm. Pictures of the matches can be seen on our website, men and women.

We meet every Sunday morning from 10am for training and also have matches planned with other clubs on a Sundays too. If you come along, players can expect 4 weeks free trial, after which we then ask you to pay full membership of £65 for the whole season (September until June) or £45 if your child is aged between 3 and 5. The U/7s and U/8s play tag rugby, and the U/9s upwards will play contact rugby, following the age grade rugby progression as published by the RFU. We teach our players rules and techniques and build confidence to enable them to learn how to play rugby whilst also seeing it as a way of meeting new friends. We teach the core values of rugby, Respect, Teamwork, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship and want you most importantly to have fun. We are a volunteer run club and would like to get everyone involved. We encourage parents to take an active part in their children’s rugby and welcome them by either becoming a coach, where training will be provided, or as volunteer to help with the running of the club. This can be a very rewarding experience for both yourselves and your child. If you or your child are interested and they would like to give rugby a try, please use our contact form on our contact page to let us know.
