It has been a number of weeks since I assumed the role of Chairman of Bexley Rugby. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my predecessor Keith Rutter for his hard work in running the club through eventful times in the past few years.
I have been involved with Bexley for over 10 years ever since my son joined the club and who now plays as a first team player. My family have always supported the club by coming to watch the matches and my son runs the junior section of the club that runs every Sunday. I am one of the coaches that run the Tag group this season. I also work as the Safeguarding Officer and work closely with local schools.
My first priority is to increase our player numbers in all sections of our club. I see the success of the club being dependent on us all working together to ensure that this is achieved. Core to this is the volunteers who I would like to thank to those who are already here but we need more. The importance of volunteers are key so I would like to invite old or new members of the club to come forward and offer your skills to keep the club running smoothly. As a volunteer any time you can spare will be a great help.
As we move forward, I see we need to keep expanding as a club with a single aim to work together and continue the ethos of being a friendly, inclusive and welcoming club. I have always considered and admired Bexley Rugby Club in the way its members support each other and promotes the social side of rugby.
I look forward to the forthcoming seasons and working with everybody involved, be it player, coach, parent, volunteer or supporter.
